Ohio lifts the cap on home accessibility work and adds a support-broker service

Ohio’s Department of Developmental Disabilities posted a set of waiver changes with a July 1 effective date, once the federal government approves them. The practical one for houses: the ceiling on environmental accessibility adaptations goes from $10,000 to $15,000 per project, and the service is added to the SELF waiver.
The department says the higher cap should have little budget impact. Claims from recent years rarely cleared $10,000, and projects could already be split so a household exceeded that figure across a year.
Support brokerage, previously limited, is added to the Individual Options and Level One waivers. The annual budget for that service stays at $8,000. Remote support billing also changes, from an hourly unit to 15 minutes, described as budget-neutral.
These are not wage bills. They are the other half of a Medicaid waiver: what a person can buy for a doorway, a bathroom, or someone to help run a self-directed plan.
